We had a delightful day in Figueres with our cousins. We were up early and out to the Renfe station. We did not realized today was a holiday until we got there and discovered the train schedule was different from what we had planned. Since we were early we had plenty of time and caught an earlier train. We did not call René as the new time
would get us there a bit earlier and we did not mind the wait. However, as soon as we arrived they were there because they also came early to meet us, so it all worked out very well. René drove us about the city of Figueres, home to approximately 25K people. Then he parked near a lovely park and we walked around the town a bit before our delicious lunch at ONIX. René and Odette pick excellent restaurants! From there we walked to the Dali Museum and went toured it completely. Dali is very different and though he had a huge artistic talent it is my personal opinion that he did not develop it into the
beauty it could have been. Some of his works are down right disturbing! After the museum we went to a place nearby where he has a jewelry collection. Some of this jewelry actually moves. I tried to post a video of the “Beating Heart” here but I kept getting an error message. I am tired, so that will wait for another day. It is oddly fascinating as the heart of jewels beats, but yet a bit “creepy” as well. All to soon it was time to bid farewell to our dear cousins. They saw us off at the train station and we had an uneventful train ride back to Barcelona. As we walked back to our flat we stopped for a bite to eat and to listen to the street musicians in a small square near our flat as well. Another lovely day.
